I saw a boy in the park the other day,
And there, beside him, was another lad,
It bothered me for a couple of days,
I waited alone in those morning hours,
His mom sent him off with a hug and a kiss,
For there was no one there to kiss or to hug,
I looked at their houses and they looked the same,
But I watched that day and finally I saw,
"Smiley's" parents kept an eye out all day,
You see only "Smiley" had one extra gift,

ABOUT THIS POEM:
I wrote the above poem after watching
He was just staring into nowhere,
His head held high, he was happy at play.
Not a worry in his head had he,
Then he looked up and he smiled at me.
By the look on his face you could see he was sad.
He was not playing like the other little boy,
But just sat there, alone, staring at a toy.
Seeing those two in such different ways,
That I had to go back to the park once more,
And try to heal this wound that stayed sore.
Watching the sun rise with the morning flowers,
When a door opened up across the street,
And there stood "Smiley," well dressed and neat.
And then said "I love you," Now listen to this :
Something caught my eye down the other alley,
That sad little boy, with a face full of jelly.
So he just stepped outside with a sigh and a shrug.
Yes I could see the tear in his eye,
And this was enough to start me to cry.
The backgrounds looked similar from which these two came,
They both had a dog, They both had a bike,
There were many things that were so much alike.
A very sad thing, the major flaw.
That made the difference between these two boys,
Why one had so many, and the other no joys.
And even came over to spend time and play,
But the sad child's parents just got in their car,
And yelled at their boy "We'll be at the bar."
Mom and Dad give him for his spirits to lift,
And poor little "sad eyes" was given no time at all,
No wonder he felt so lonely and small.
a little boy sitting alone in a park.
as if he was wishing to be with someone...
